The twelve Lecture: “Egypt from the Tulunids to the beginning of the Fatimid Caliphate”
Presented by: Mr. Aly Hanafy – Specialist in Islamic Heritage at CULTNAT
After the year 242 hijri\ 856 AD, the emirate system in Egypt witnessed a great change during the Abbasid Caliphate. Egypt became a feudal estate to the Turkish until Ahmad Ibn Tulun was made a vice governor of Egypt in 254 H \ 868 AD. Then he declared Egypt as an Independent state known as the “Tulunid State” in 266 H\ 880 AD.
In 292H\ 905 AD Egypt was again under the rule of the Abbasid Caliphate, then was ruled by the “Ikhshidid dynasty” in 323H\ 935 AD, later on the “Fatimid Caliphate” took power of Egypt in 358H\ 969 Ad.
